Review: The God Complex

Just now, I watched the newest episode of Doctor Who: The God Complex. It was a thrilling, creepy episode that was full of new monsters at every turn. I was a little disappointed because the Doctor Who site, along with all its trailers and clips, boasted the return of the Weeping Angels. They were really scary in The Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone, so I was excited for another appearance. They did appear, for about one and a half minutes! Other than that, the idea was great, the story made for a nice thriller, but it was a bit anti-climactic. Although we can guess what was in the Doctor’s room, we never got to see it, and the action did begin to slow in the end, in preparation for the Doctor’s grand farewell! Being a relatively new Whovian (starting with Series 5), I started out with Amy (and Rory) being the Doctor’s companions. Even though we’ll definitely see them again in this series and the next, it was a little sad to see them go.

Review: The Girl Who Waited

Last night, we watched the newest episode of Doctor Who: The Girl Who Waited. It was a great episode, full of the complex time-y mind-boggling-ness that makes Doctor Who so good. The separate timestreams idea made for a really good story, and it was kinda sad to see Rory have to make a choice between the Amys. Old Amy had almost a Cast Away attitude, with Rory the robot being the Wilson volleyball. Maybe it’s because we’re only kids, and we don’t understand grown-up stuff, but Amy and her freaking out got a little tiring after a while, and we don’t really get how she’s not relieved that the Doctor came and doesn’t want to get out of the place. Nevertheless, Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan did a great job portraying their characters, and the stand out scene is when old Amy gets locked out of the TARDIS. Overall, it was a great episode, though we’re not sure it was as good as it was hyped up to be.

Amy is trapped in a quarantine facility for victims of an alien plague – a plague that will kill the Doctor in a day – as the time-travelling drama continues.

The Doctor can use the TARDIS to smash through time and break in, but then Rory is on his own. He must find Amy and bring her back to the TARDIS before the alien doctors can administer their medicine.

Rory is about to encounter a very different side to his wife. Can he rescue Amy before she is killed by kindness?
